Friday Thoughts 21 - Ghostwatch

It’s Friday again and almost the end of October. While I have moments of being rather chilly, I have to admit that I am really enjoying the low pollution and beautiful weather we are having at the moment. I have to remind myself that it is not usual to still be wearing sandals and no tights in November! Although I do recall sending a birthday message to my friend on the 1st November one year to tell her that, rather than being well wrapped up, I was in fact wearing shorts. It has been a busy week and I know we are all tired and I am definitely going for being thankful for what I do have rather than focussing on what I might like to be going differently.

I’m not one to celebrate Halloween, have never been trick or treating and do not enjoy scary films or horror stories. However, it was quite a tradition to have a sleep-over to celebrate this same friend’s birthday and one year we watched a programme on the good old Beeb to show just how grown-up we were. Much to my surprise, scrolling through the news the other day, I found an article about ‘How we traumatised the nation with 'Ghostwatch'’ and have to admit that, along with my friends, I was absolutely one of the nation’s traumatised and continued to be so for a while to come. It is a continuous discussion whenever I am together with my siblings the latest programmes or films my sister and sister-in-law have been watching and they laugh at me when I remind them that no, I have never seen Chucky or any of the associated films. I like to watch ‘nice’ or funny films rather than ones which are liable to give me nightmares. I am slightly curious to re-watch Ghostwatch, if only to see just how clearly a spoof it was, and may do so, but this time in the middle of the day with the curtains open!

Not to break with tradition, here are my musical updates from this week. Following a recommendation, I have updated my Spotify listening in an attempt to listen to something from this last decade rather than my youth. I am definitely one of Freya Ridings’ new fans, however Spotify clearly has other ideas for me as, once her playlist came to an end, I found myself listening to Scouting for Girls and now Gabrielle. Very apt, Sunshine is now playing.

Happy Friday everyone and I hope you all enjoy the sunshine this weekend while we still have it!
