Friday Thoughts 25 - Rain, rain, go away

Writer: EAWEAW

I don’t think many of us will be sad to see the back of the rain over the weekend (assuming, that is, that the forecast is correct) and look forward to seeing some blue skies again next week. Winter most definitely has arrived!

It has definitely been an unusual month and I have had several conversations based around the general misery of this week. My favourite was definitely this week as the last week in November being the worst week in the year! Let’s hope so! However, for those of you who have been able to go and see it, the production of Seussical has absolutely brightened up some pretty miserable days. It’s easy to see the bright, vibrant set and larger than life acting and forget that those on stage are children. Granted, some of them closer to young adulthood, but others were still in the primary school only last term. It is always one of my greatest pleasures to watch these productions with such pride. I could go off on a tangent and reminisce about when I first met several of the students and how they have changed but I won’t. Instead, I would like to remind you of just how much hard work and determination has gone into it from all areas, from colleagues supporting with cover right through to the people working directly with the students. It is also about the impact every teacher who has ever had contact with those students has had. It doesn’t ‘just happen’, it is made to happen and I thoroughly recommend you watching the recording when you can.

I was walking some of the EYFS children into school on Monday morning when I saw that the beautiful winter wonderland had appeared over the weekend (thank you very much to Elena for putting it up). Just as I was admiring it, I heard a small voice exclaim “Christmas is here!” in complete delight and it reminded me just how magical this time of year is for our students whether they celebrate the festival or not. Our wonderful PET have been in and erected the Christmas trees, Rhian and the secondary students have now decorated the secondary reception area with the results of their annual bauble bonanza and now more of the school is feeling festive. We’re almost there and we will get there one way or another. Just one last push before we can breathe a collective sigh of relief.

Honestly a coincidence from my ‘Easy 90s’ playlist, I would just like to finish with ‘Things Can Only Get Better’.

Happy Friday everyone.
