Friday Thoughts 40 - Holiday, what holiday?

We did have a holiday, didn’t we…?

It’s been a busy but really quite amazing week all round and I have so many things going round in my mind. Panic not though, I shall keep it short!

Definitely no I in team! I have been surrounded by nothing but love this week and am so energised by everything. I have an incredible team around me and am feeling truly privileged yet again. As many of you know, my decision to remain was not an easy one for so many reasons, including wondering if I could be the head the school needed me to be, however once it was made I knew it was the right one because I felt a huge weight lift from my shoulders. It was definitely the right one, although I did make my mother cry…

This week saw another first – the hosting of SPTCs offsite and they worked like a well-oiled machine. I can’t take any credit – it was the team around me who planned, organised and executed a clear plan. It was the attention to detail which meant that it went so smoothly (not sure we could have anticipated losing 3 full-size school buses at the end of the night…) There was such a positive buzz on both nights and parents were delighted to actually see their children’s teachers in person. That, however, was just one reason; the buzz was the excitement of sharing wonderful experiences with teachers celebrating the marvellous children we have alongside parents’ appreciation of the amazing staff we have. What was also lovely was the ability of staff to get together over a slightly soggy sandwich or a nice cup of Irish breakfast tea (only available on Wednesday by all accounts). I keep saying it, but again those inter-personal connections.

Among all of the chaos and business of school, we also welcomed a brand new BISS Lion – baby Lucy May. Apparently, she made an appearance slightly earlier than planned, but again the team drew together to support and, to the best of my knowledge, all is well.

Big announcements this week and there are some more to come in briefing – watch this space.

Happy Friday all, and I hope you have a well-deserved rest this weekend.

Music this week? It’s Alan Walker, courtesy of Rory Weston. Brand new to me, although quite a nice change to what I was listening to earlier – Dido followed by the Cranberries.
